Accreditation of Service and Repair Shops
Pursuant to the Presidential Decree 1572, All business establishment
engaging in service and repair shops dealing with motor vehicle, heavy equipment;
engine and engineering; electronics, electrical; air conditioning and refrigeration;
office machine; data processing equipment; and medical/dental are required to apply
for accreditation with the Department of Trade and Industry. No such service or repair enterprises and technical personnel shall be licensed or permitted to operate in the Philippines for the first time without first being accredited by the Department of Trade. The DTI-NCR was tasked to regulate and control the operation of service and repair shops in Metro Manila. They prescribe the basic essential requirements of setting-up, measure the capacity of service offered and accredit the enterprises which have complied with such requirements. Also, they regularly monitor the condition, practices and facilities affecting the operation of the firms to protect the safeguard of the public against unethical, unfair and incompetent practice of service and repair shops.
